Hulbert Street Sustainability Fiesta

hulbert st fiesta

I really love living in Freo it has a wonderful sense of community. The Hulbert Street Sustainability Fiesta is a prime example of the Freo ‘hippy’ community spirit. If you want to read more about the idea behind the fiesta there is more info here.

Going with Ethan to the Fiesta I couldn’t help but see things from a toddler’s point of view. So we didn’t focus so much on the fantastic resources for creating a more sustainable lifestyle, of which there were many. We rather got awfully excited about the homemade lemonade for 50 cents per glass and following the sounds of a goose honking in someones backyard. On our little walk from one end of the street to the other I gathered so many great ideas for things to do with Ethan. We dabbled in stick weaving, woodwork, fishing with magnet poles, discovering fairy garden creatures and upcycling industrial bits and bobs into funky new things. I will do some separate posts about all these ideas in more detail in the next couple of days.

For now I will take the opportunity to head off to bed while both my boys are sleeping, at the same time!
